NEXT PARTY ANNOUNCED! 28th NOVEMBER!

Riding high on the back of our roadblocked Halloween party and looking to up the game even further for our last party of the year, we bow out in style, and in honor of being joined by Stevie Kotey of Bear Funk Records – a fave DJ and producer of the Say Yes team having released killer 12″ from the likes of Lindstrom, Altz, Idjut boys and Max Essa and many other Say Yes favourites.
Stevie’s DJ sets are as diverse as his releases; ranging from all corners of dance – from Balearic to acid house and disco, and highly acclaimed mixes for Bear Funk and Strutt. His own productions never fail to disappoint – releasing under his own name; many aliases (Afrobutt’s, The big bear) and as the touring DJ of the awesome Chicken Lips.

HALLOWEEN DISCO OCTOBER 31st

Halloween at Say Yes is a very special affair having, as we do, a supernatural affinity with the nightstalkers and decadant vamps of East London.
An excuse to dust down all of our “ridiculous dracula themed disco 7’s“ portentious italian Giallo soundtracks and “opportunistic horror disco remixes” is too good to be missed and we will be digging deep in the crypt to provide the perfect soundtrack to the Star’s transformation into a phantasmagorical playground and as special treat for those who only come out at night, we have a later license than usual. We are also revisited by one of our favourite DJ’s / head honcho of the Dissident London record label, Andy Blake.
Dress: Video nasty, Giallo Glam, Zombie Casual and Scream Queen Chic.

Arthur’s Landing play live on Say Yes Radio
At 5pm today (NYC time 10pm UK) we were lucky to have Arthur’s Landing play an impromptu radio Jam.
They fused “motion” with “all over my face” live from the platform stage at Diesel’s pop up New York Studio in 5th Avenue, Manhattan, with a Massive P.A. on the street. and whilst a riot was happening. It was incredible. Pictures and audio to come soon.
We were also joined by the bands producer Brennan Green.
“Arthur’s Landing is a project, an ensemble of varying dimensions and purposes, that performs music written and imagined by the late Arthur Russell….Arthur rode the subway beyond any known limits of the downtown scene, lurked in the back of the hall observing certain musicians, and talked them into collaborating with him. The result was music informed by the social interaction of people with disparate backgrounds, both in life and in music.” -issueprojectroom.org“

NEXT SAY YES SATURDAY 25 OF JULY

Say Yes returns for another essential sweaty rave off, with guest DJ Andy Blake (Dissident records), to celebrate the somewhat overdue arrival of volume three of Dissident’s compilation CDs.
Andy Blake is the man behind the awesome Dissident imprint, which releases limited runs of 1 sided 12″ singles and from the awesome debut of Binary Chaffinch’s – False Energy, an 11 minute, genre bending, dance floor wig out: we heard ; were hooked. Fast forward 2 years and Dissident has tallied up an excellent back catalogue of underground dance floor fodder by the likes of Cage and Aviary, Photonz, Barrsica, Naum Gabo (Jonnie Wilkes) and G&S (Nadia Ksaiba and Matt Waites) bringing us to the compilation number 3 CD.
As well as running a label, and having one of the most enviable record collections in London, Andy has embarked on a remixing career, starting recently with a mix for legendary dance pioneer Alexander Robotnik. Most importantly he can put together a hell of a DJ set, so come bear witness as he joins us behind the turntables.
For an interview and mix with Andy.. please see ALAINFINKIELKRAUTROCK

NADIA: BUSY BUSY BUSY ON THE RADIO

Argh, I haven’t updated this for ages, I have been really busy producing at Diesel U Music radio, if you haven’t head of this you have to check it out now. We have had some amazing content already and we are only in Week 2 of broadcast. Highlights for me so far have been the weekly Strut shows, they have had incredible guests each time, each show so far has been themed, the first one Hip Hop, with a Grandmaster Flash interview and DJ Pogo and the second one was African music themed with the legandary Mulatu Astatke the Ethipoian Jazz musician. Amazing stuff. Check out all the Strut compilations.
I have had the pleasure to actually present 3 shows myself, which I will upload here, the first was NY request with Sasa Crnobrnja from In Flagranti, I should have got Alex Gloor (the other half) on the phone, as he would have a lot to say about New York, I Djed with both of them last week and his stories sound incredible. Todd Hart pointed me in the direction of this amazing Smylonylon tapes that he complied working at a record shop in New York in the 80’s. Download these now.

We are so excited to announce the second installment of Say Yes radio on the wonderful Diesel U Music Radio (hosted by Rory Rhillips and Nadia Ksaiba) with dance legend Alexander Robotnik.
Here is the video of Obsession for the disco freaks, which Rory has remixed rather wonderfully recently. Dancing on Fuzz Dance 12″. Awesome.
The show will broadcast on line at www.dieselumusicradio.com on 21st May 20:00 – 22:00 GMT.
